its been slow enuff round these parts of late - banged in willow warbler, golden plover and a fine black redstart in the last couple of days but still no wheatear! Whats going on?
Still, back ahead of Bushveld so happy days!

bit of movement through the crease
Its been a fairly lacklustre spring hereabouts however I am struggling on adding year ticks where I can. Having missed out on verifying Geller's garganey, I managed to turn up a fine brace of tufted ducks on the lake here, plus common sandpiper too. The addition of collared dove and siskin, plus a smattering of seawatch action in the form of puffin and bonxie keeps thing moving along steadily.
Just shy of 100 species up by mid May is pretty average hereabouts - all to play for in the autumn!

slow trickle
not a lot happening yet, although have managed a whopping 4 (count 'em) wheatears and a handful of chiffchaffs, in the last few days. Also tystie (scream for me, stevie G) and buzzard too.

a few bits
bits and bobs being gleaned from the patches - Royzah has hauled his weary *rse to the dizzy heights of 77 species or 57.18% in old money. I, on the other hand have been steadily marching onwards and upwards with iceland gull the other day and a fine kingfisher this very am, which puts me on 67 species or 49.38%. Woah sit down!

kak all at sea
Another lame seawatch yesterday am, with tystie once again the highlight, however a fine sanderling on the beach at Long Strand on the way home was a worthy year tick. Result!

whopper with large fries
one whopper swan gleaned from the jax window while having a pee has been the only highlight lately.
*Update* - just checked the lake (from the patio, not the jax) and there's a fine female goldeneye ensconsed there - puts me ahead of royzah I think!

another mig
Despite the great conditions for a fall, digging out the migs at Galley has been hard since those goodies turned up last week - did find another wryneck, which was nice, but the only year tick i managed was a lesser whitethroat as dusk fell last night - still - rarer than ybw here!

Absenteeism
Jeez, been a bit slack with my attendance on here! Still, had a slow trickle of year ticks since I last posted, including such finery as tystie, sooty, stormie, baleary, ringoey, & common sandy. So that sees me safely back in front of Old Hadders and Senor Kostco but still sadly lagging behind Mr Bushey.
Still and all, can't grumble, with ace views of a fantastic summer male Mongolian Sandplover on the weekend - have a pic!
