Schpring schprong

Yes indeedy, there's been a trickle of movement through the metaphorical crease, with common/regular migrants and seabirds nailed over the last couple of weeks including swallow, blackcap, bonxie, sandwich tern, puffin along with sedge warbler this very morning! Best of the bunch was a flighty greenfinch spanging around March Lane last week. Should be annual, and just about still are.

A couple of recent successes avec le new lens:

A wren yesterday

A song thrush, also yesterday

All still to play for!

a few bits

bits and bobs being gleaned from the patches - Royzah has hauled his weary *rse to the dizzy heights of 77 species or 57.18% in old money. I, on the other hand have been steadily marching onwards and upwards with iceland gull the other day and a fine kingfisher this very am, which puts me on 67 species or 49.38%. Woah sit down!

last gasp at Galley

Been pulling out all the stops (i.e. stringing) to try and get some last minute additions to the year list - its paying off too as I managed a little auk on a 1 hr seawatch yesterday am, whilst today vigourous scanning of distant off-patch fields from the comfort of me garden (on-patch) successfully netted the frankly embarrassing missing mistle thrush. So thats over the 90% mark at last but can I catch Shakey?

Alas poor bushveld...

OK spring has generally been pants at Galley but did manage to add sarnie tern, spot fly and blackcap over last weekend so still just ahead of bushy!

Also managed to tick a cracking (unringed) male blue-winged teal the other night - just off patch but ya can't have everything!

Happy days!

latest news

No change at the top but waxwing at Folkestone & something well ganky like GND at girdle closes the gap between the top three! This year is going to the wire!

bits 'n' bobs

A few bits to report but nothing startling - sarnie, willow warbler, blackcap, yellowhammer etc - keepin me afloat anyway
