More action at Galley!

Yes indeedy - the third patch year tick in as many days was gleaned this lunchtime in the form of a fine kingfisher whanging through the scope as I scanned the lake. Minutes later it whanged back again the other way - result! Just aboot annual here but you can't count 'em till you get 'em, innit!

ooo wader x 2

Just had a sconce at the lake, and while perusing a common sandpiper, my razor-sharp hearing detected a wader call - on the third call it finally clicked - turnstone! And they were, both of them! Just one more species needed to leapfrog Boghall into 4th spot! All going on!

blackwits

3 flyover black-tailed godwits were swiftly dispatched to the year list over breakfast - skills!

patio party continues

Two more year ticks this morning from the comfort of the patio - lapwing and a dodgy distant scope-zoomed sparrowhawk perched in a tree for about two hours, which could have been anything but I'm having it anyway! With over 60 species seen from the patio already this year, is there any point in trying anywhere else on the patch? Green veined white still here too.

latest news

No change at the top but waxwing at Folkestone & something well ganky like GND at girdle closes the gap between the top three! This year is going to the wire!

shanderling

hoo hoo! One I thought I'd missed for the year but apparently not. Managed a fine sanderling on de beach yesterday, which puts me within striking distance of el castillo, assuming he's turned into the eternal flame for the winter!
