ducking responsibilities

Last week was all about the spring migs. Even up till Fri pm when I snuck out for a quick look at shite and scored spot fly, plus jammed sanderling on de way home. This weekend has all been about ducks on the lake! 4 tufties there yesterday was bettered by 5 tufties & 2 pochard today, only to be superceded by 4 tufties, 2 pochard and 1 scaup once i'd worked out what i should be stringing! Missed spot fly, scaup & pochard last year so thats a triple whammy breakback! Also just realised that I omitted pheasant up till now - score! All of which means that 109 (on which I am now on) is my highest ever total by this date, beating my record breaking 2010 score by 2 species & 3 days!! Impressed? I was!

shanderling

hoo hoo! One I thought I'd missed for the year but apparently not. Managed a fine sanderling on de beach yesterday, which puts me within striking distance of el castillo, assuming he's turned into the eternal flame for the winter!

My patch is too small!

Bored at work so did some hi-tec fancy dan calculations using a BTO 2 km tetrad map, a sheet of acetate, a permanent marker, graph paper and a propelling pencil, oh and a calculator to work out the precise area of my patch, and guess what? its too wee! Yes indeedy, for our patch challenge, de patch must be less than 2 square km, but mine is waaaaaaay less - taking up an area of approximately 1.04 square km! Wonder if I expanded in a 100 m wide path, could I reach White's Marsh from here....

or am i doing something really stupid?

Indeed, and I am! Sorry, panic over, please move along, there's nothing to see here...2.11 square km is perfectly acceptable, ahem, arse!
